A recent study by the HIPAA Journal identified that 53% of connected medical devices and other healthcare IoT devices have several unaddressed critical vulnerabilities. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) identifies that those critical vulnerabilities should be patched within 24hrs to prevent malicious activity that could lead to ransomware. Healthcare Executives need to align their cybersecurity strategy with their patient safety initiatives to limit operational disruptions in the event of a cyber incident.
